Regional Water Supply: Intakes and Pipelines
AQUEN played a key role in the execution of water supply systems within the Peace, Petitot, Columbia, Athabasca, North Saskatchewan, Bow, Oldman, Elbow, Sheep and Smoky River basins.
Our track record includes:
- Water allocations for unconventional gas development in the Peace River basin
- Infrastructure design including intake siting, intake design, pipeline material selection, transient analysis of pipeline performance, siting of ARV and PRVs, indigenous engagement, DFO applications, NavWaters approvals
- Equipment supply including pump stations and generators for regional systems
Our design strategies reduce capital and operating expense by:
- Utilizing on-line rotating spares that eliminate downtime for equipment repair and replacement
- Access to mature supply chains from well-established regional vendors
- Carefully matching variable frequency drive controllers to pumps to take advantage of built-in diagnostic tools
- Early development of life-like 3D models that allow operators to confirm the ergonomics of equipment repair, replacement and operation
